This place is weird to say the least! Where do I begin??? On a Wednesday night at 7, the place is pretty much dead but it took forever to get our terrible food. My boyfriend & I ordered the same thing fajita burritos but his didn't look like mine. Sending it back was not an option because it took 20 minutes to get a beer, so we would have starved before we got the terrible food. Oh did I remind you the food was terrible. My chicken fajita burrito was cold on one end, warm in the middle, and so damn spicy I couldn't finish it! Wow!!! The only good thing was that the manager came over and asked how the food was, and guess what I said:-)

Met up with my sister and a friend for a drink after work last Friday. Wasn't too crowded so parking was not a problem. We got a table because I had my daughter and nephew with me, so thought it would be better not to have them at the bar. I have always loved the chips and salsa and the fact that thy will keep bringing them as many times as you request them is a plus. My daughter loves to eat Chips & Salsa and that's all she and my nephew wanted. I wasn't too hungry so I just ordered a small quesadilla from the appetizer menu. It was just enough to quell my appetite. The main reason I came was to get a margarita. I made the mistake of ordering the house Margarita. Not really sure what kind of tequllia they use in it but its not very good. My sister ordered the lots a rita. They definitely used a higher quality of tequila in it. It was only a dollar more too. Its really work skipping over the house margarita and springing for the premium margaritas. The service was pretty bad there this particular night. The waiter was not very attentive. When he took my sisters order he walked off without getting mine. When ever he came back he would only do one persons order then bolt off. I am not sure if he was new but it was a little annoying. I would probably come back without the kids next time and sit at the bar.

No complaints with ambiance, service or food. Everything better than average. But I thought its little pricey considering its standards and one thing I hated about this one is drinks! My friend and I had some cocktails which were nothing more than fruit juices. Very disappointed with this. Otherwise a nice Mexican eatery joint.

How the mighty have fallen. I remember taking my wife, then girlfriend, to Don Pablo's for a decent dining experience. We decided to go back today and the only decent thing about the place was the prompt and friendly service. The food was horrid. The chips were stale, the salsa was bland and my "grilled" fish tacos were lukewarm and watery. It tasted as if it were heated up in the microwave. My wife tells me the bathroom was disgusting. Wet spots on the floor while other areas were sticky with remnants of paper on the floor.

Service was very good, wait staff was attentive and friendly but food took a while to come out. The ribs were charred to in-edibility, BBQ chicken was severely overcooked and over sauced to cover it up. everything was way too salty. Not going again.

I visited Don Pablo's last night and was very pleased with our server, Denise. Although she was training a new server, she was still super attentive. When I told her that I had food allergies, she took the cue to immediately ask if I needed a gluten free menu, which I did! She was friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. The food was good and plenty. The only drawback was that the restaurant could have been a little more well maintained, and also management stood by while children played and removed stones and money from a fountain that collected money for a children's charity.

Very poor service. Was ignored the first five minutes I stood there. More employees than customers and I watched four people walk right by me. Manager didn't seem to care when told. Food OK.

This is a great place to eat a workday lunch. It's right across the street from our office and in our rotation for the monthly colleagues' birthday lunch. Some other reviewers have mentioned they think it's not a good value for the price; perhaps at dinner that's true but the lunch menu is a good value. The food is tasty and lunch service is very fast.

It's a chain,. I know... but I LOVE Don Pablo's!!!!!!!! I usually get the Grilled Chicken and Shrimp with black beans and rice and then some Fried Ice Cream. This particular location has very good service.

Worst. Service. Ever. I hadn't eaten at a Don Pablo's in a decade. They used to be above average beans-and-rice joints. This place was 20% busy at prime dinner hour. Here's the timeline: 5 minutes to be greeted (only group in lobby) 10 more minutes to get menus 20 minutes - one of us had to run down server to place orders 35 minutes to get water 40 minutes to get five drinks and only after one in our party had to go to the bar to ask for them 50 minutes for food to arrive. Some of our appetizer plates placed on the table were found to have dried food on them. The table had spots of dried food and sticky spills from previous guests. After dinner, we thought would have a second drink in the bar. Only a half dozen people were in the bar, but every open space at the bar was full of used glassware, dirty plates, and soiled napkins. Half the high top tables in the bar area were in the same sloppy and untended state. Two male bartenders studiously ignored us while we looked for someplace to sit. They were having some animated conversation that entailed lots of arm waving and gesticulations. We looked around, and knew we had to finally stop giving them another chance. What a dump. I want to go back and raise every one-star review I've ever given to two stars so this awful place could be in sole position as the worst restaurant of its kind I have ever patronized. I've had better sanitation from street vendors in rural China and certainly better service. This place is unique. It's the worst place I've encountered in many, many years. Stay away.

Holy cow this place could not be slower! The food is exactly what you would expect from a Don Pablo's, but it isn't worth it when you come here on a Thursday to a completely dead restaurant and it still takes well over an hour. We waited for 15 minutes for a scoop of ice cream for the kids before we cancelled it and asked for the check and our waiter had CLEARLY forgotten about anything we had ordered for them. Or us. We won't be coming back for dinner. Maybe a margarita at the bar occasionally, but none of this nonsense again.

Their food is crap the staff is worst. Price was not worth it drinks were decent. Simple do not go there, go next door.

  • Lee S.

Wow, this place has nothing fresh about it. The guacamole is even already pre-made. Taco Tuesday you can't even have veggie tacos only meat. Hmm. Ok. The food looks like they just pre-heat it. There are tons of staff just walking around looking bored out of their mind and yet it takes 10 minutes for someone to walk over. Sorry guys, fake and expensive. Nope.

HORRIBLE. We went Sunday evening at 6:45 and didn't get our food until after 8. Party of 7. Four adults and 3 kids. No kids menus as they were out... Just the beginning. We were seated within 5 minutes but drink orders weren't taken for at least 15 minutes. Had to continually ask for more chips and salsa. Once our food arrived, almost and hour later... Two meals were wrong, two were cool/cold and overall the food was edible at best. VERY VERY POOR EXPERIENCE. I shared this with the manager on duty.... We got comped 15% - not what I expected after wasting almost 2 hours of my time with other Mexican choices so close in proximity. Never again Pablo's, you certainly missed your chance.

I haven't been to Don Pablo's in over 10 yrs- what I remember is consistantly good service and delicious food... I experienced neither of those today! I also rememeber loving their chips and salsa- the kindest thing i can say is- they changed the salsa. The food looked pathetic!! I know food rarely looks exactly like the pictures, but this food had been through the war- our fajita platter looked like they dropped and just scooped back onto the plate. My son ordered grilled chicken- i can only assume they ran out because he was instead served two clay bricks. Did i mention the service? Watching the waitress was like watching a training video on how and how not to do the job- she was clearly the clip on how not to do it... SOOOO SLLOOOOOOOWWWW. She walked slow and when she brought the wrong salad dressing, it literally took 10 mins for her to get the oil and vinegar bottles- not even something she had to pour! The food was slow and NOT AT ALL worth the wait. I approached the manager and was verynice, not nasty at all... She just smiled and said "really? I'm so sorry, have a nice day." While have been to Don Pablo's many times, this was my family's first visit. It is also our last visit.

Fish taco's are THE BEST I've ever had. Happy Hour is nice. $3 Pablo-ritas. Wish they had more variety for happy hour drinks tho. Nice atmosphere but the chairs are too short compared to the tables. I feel like a baby sitting in them... :/

I have not been here in a year. Mezcal had over an hour wait for seating so we ended up here on a Friday night. HORRIBLE DECISION. So waiter nice as can be BUT no utensils no napkins couldn't find him to ask for either and he only checked back after someone else scrambled to bring napkins or folded paper towels and utensils. Food was horrific. Not even passable . The drinks were good and strong probably because you need to be drunk by the time the food comes out so you don't taste it or know what you ate. The food was wrong and/or freezing cold. I will never leave Mezcal to come to this DUMP ever again . Not only that I woke up like...

I have been to this place a couple of times but this time it's my worst experience. Our server looked very disinterested. I ordered chicken fajita and it came with hard tacos so had to send that back. Then I requested for hot salsa, I guess she forgot and I had to ask again then she got it. One of my colleague ordered fish tacos and the tacos he got were the hardest, he had to send the back! We were in this place for almost an hour and half during work hours. Very disappointing. I am never going back!!

Worst. Service. Ever. Stopped in for a quick bite to eat and drink by myself on a Tuesday night. Sat at the bar for at least five minutes before I was ever acknowledged. Not a head nod, a look up, "be there in a sec", nothing. I was sitting at the bar in front of two bartenders... right in front of them, still no service. I had to ask for a menu, she didn't have one, had to go track one down. A nice guy next to me handed me his instead. I was not offered the complimentary chips/salsa. I had to ask for drink specials. I ordered the fish tacos. They came out hot and within 15 minutes of ordering. Meh. They lacked seasoning. Refried beans were ok, rice was dry. Never offered a refill on my water, was never asked if I wanted another drink. (I actually did want another!) Just really terrible service.....they just don't care. Food not bad but I will not return based on the service alone.

  • Yolanda L.

The worst service. I waited over 10 minutes for someone to come and wait on me. People walked pass my table but no one ever asked me anything. They barely spoke and I think that was only because I was looking at them. Finally, I stopped someone and asked for the manager. That was the magic word because, I then received a server, chips and salsa immediately. I was given complimentary queso that was maybe lukewarm for my wait. Overall, the food was terrible. I should have just gotten up and left the restaurant in the beginning. Waist of my money!!!!

Run there are cockroaches on the counters behind the bar we brought this to the attention of the manager who was serving us at the time while we were at the bar she smashed one of them and we about lost our cookies at that very same moment. There was also more of them coming down the wall, we had noticed also small fruit flies flying around the fresh salsa container not a good sign. Not sure what is going on with the overall pest control issues and upkeep of the place but it looks quite run down and dingy. Where you see one or two cockroaches well you can finish the rest of the sentence.....not something to ever consider around food as to the crazy amount of disease they can spread in humans. Please do not consider this for your next eating place we have not returned since nor will we again.

Food was delicious but the service was TERRIBLE. I went with a semi-big group and we waited forever to be seated. The waiter also took forever to take our orders. I think they're a bit understaffed which was why their service sucked. I definitely think they would get a lot more better reviews if their service improved.

Omg the only thing edible was the chicken dias. I got the sampler with empandas and everything was repulsive my friends chimichanga was disgusting . When I spoke to the manager she told me that none of the items on the platter was fresh everything is frozen and fried....gross no wonder it taste so dried. Old and bland

I LOVE Mexican food, now I'm not sure if Don P's has authentic Mexican cuisine or a Americanized variation. Either way I'm a fan. So I came here with my kids and my oldest nephew recently. We had an awesome experience, it was early Saturday afternoon so the place was pretty quiet. We were seated right away. Our server Christina aka Chrissy was so nice, very attentive and her recommendations were great. The four of us came with our man vs food appetites! For starters a comp basket of tortillas and salsa was placed on the table. We crushed it! We ordered the loaded nachos appetizer (not sure if that is the correct name) Crushed it! Main course I had the Cinco combo which is two soft shell tacos three enchiladas. My nephew had the buffalo chicken soft shell and My oldest had the steak burrito and last but certainly not least my youngest had the soft shell beef kids meal with fries of course. Each main course came with a side, all of us ordered the spoon bread by recommendation of Chrissy. OMGAAAAWWWWWWDDDD!!! if you know cornbread then you know the best part is the top. You that soft, golden, sweet and moist layer on the top. WELL!!!! imagine a bowl full of THAT!!!!! I was in thunder thighs heaven. (I had to do extra plyometrics after all that starchy goodness) Remember I said earlier in my post that we had our Man vs Food appetites, well its true. I can not come to Don P's without getting Sopaillas as my dessert. Fried puffy air pockets of comfort food happiness with a warm butter sauce that needs to be bottled and sold on the open market. I swear I would eat it straight out of the jar! My oldest and my nephew couldn't hang so they skipped the dessert. My youngest he was brave enough to go for the ice cream taco. Which I had to try with the buttery sauce of course. I said I had to do extra plyometrics. It was very good. cinnamon like taco shell with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Mmmmm Mmmmmm. We left there full, happy and very sleepy and all that food came up to 72 bucks including 20% tip. Don Pablo's muchas gracias, amigo!

Pretty much all of our friends who visit from out of town choose Don Pablo's for us to take them out to lunch/dinner. In our 5 months living in the area we've taken people there 4 times. We've never had a problem with the service, but then again we've never been there when it's super busy. The wait staff stops by frequently, and they already have a new drink for you, before you can ask for a refill. The wait staff is very, very nice, very helpful and informed to answer your questions about anything on the menu. The margaritas are amazing, especially the Lotsarita, which, it turns out, is bigger than an average-sized human head (but the smaller, normal sized margaritas are great, too). I want to try something different each time but always wind up going for the Cinco Combo - great variety and lots of food for a great price. One time we had a 1-year-old with us, of course she made a mess, especially on the floor, but the waitress acted like it was no issue at all. She also brought out just plain toast for the baby, without anybody asking. We come from Montgomery County and I think this Don Pablo's is better than any of the ones I've been to around the Germantown area.

Food was not to my liking. Service was SLOW & in attentive. We came in on what seemed like a slow Saturday afternoon, later, after the lunch rush... Food was not good; bland and over cooked. I did not like the salsa, no Italian dressing for salad (?- we had kids with us, they don't like cilantro lime vinegrette). Don Pablo's is a chain- how bad can it be?-- it was BAD!

    (1)
  • Mike J.

Typical Monday night, average crowd, looked to be mostly travelers from area hotels. Service was pretty rough, empty salsa, empty chips, empty soda. Waiter would bring more salsa when requested, look at the empty bowl of chips, and walk away. Quality of the ships were good, made in house. As far as the food, I ordered the conquistador - and was surprised to get a tiny fried item, that looked like "popper" from a frozen food bag. Items were okay, nothing special. Lack of service overshadowed the evening. The was our second trial in a two month period. Experience was the same both times. We will not be returning.

I tried this place one more time, and the waitress who serves the bar area was rude, angry, unpleasant. I think when she came over to our table , she said her name, I think it was "molly". All the other folks are pleasant even when there is a high volume of customers. Management should explain customer service to her. I'm not spending my money there anymore.

We usually go here for happy hour and sit at a table in the bar area. The staff have always been very nice and attentive. I havent sat in the restaurant part in quite a while. The food is what it is. Its a chain...you know what you are getting. But again, the staff is good at what they do, the food always comes out fast, and they have good happy hour deals on margaritas and some apps.

My work loves this place because it is close to the office and there are always happy hour specials, but I have never been impressed with the food. The all youcan eat tacos- don't order chicken because there isn't any meat. The wait staff makes you feel like you are a burden to wait on and many times they will ignore you if you try to get their attention when you need a refill on your drink. I REALLY wish there was another Mexican food chain in Maryland because this one is horrible...

Got caught in a thunderstorm while out riding so ducked in here on a Saturday night. I thought they were closed at first because it was so barren. I was the only customer in the bar. But ah well I do like peace & quiet. The free chips & salsa are always a nice touch especially when they are good. Ordered the chicken enchiladas and they were good but not great like I get down in San Antonio.

For someone who worked at Chevy's most of their teen years I was always hesitant to try Don Pablo's. I have never been to another location but this one. The first few times we've gone, I was surprised how empty the place is - even on a Friday or Saturday night. Staff is always courteous and the service is FAST. I have never had anything I didn't enjoy from here. I really love their margaritas. I'm a huge fan. Love this place! :)

  • Allison L.

For a chain, this Don Pablo's is consistently as good as "Mexican" chain restaurants go. Pretty cheap, various deals on different days, and nice strong drinks. I can't even remember the last time I had to wait for a table here, which is a big plus in my book. There have been several instances over the past few months where we've attempted to go somewhere else with a ridiculously long wait and we've just come here instead. The wait staff is always pleasant, and I've really never had an issue with the food. The chicken and steak fajita combo is one of my favorites and their mexican corncake is also pretty much worth coming here for. They've got a decent amount of burgers, ribs, and chicken if you're not in the mood for kind of Mexican food. Now if they could just do something about the Don Pablos smell that seems to permeate everything...

Food was good. Bartender was attentive. Good, quick Mexican food with a good margarita. I was here around 6 on a Monday night. So I wouldn't expect any problems. For quick Mexican food, this Don Pablo was very good.

Your typical sit down Mexican restaurant, with all the Americanized favorites. Service here is good, but even on a slow day the wait time for your food to come out the kitchen is longer than you would expect.
